Heading to Bahrain

Quick Q&A with Hungarian Karting Drivers Ahead of the 2025 RMCGF.

Questions from Hajóka SportFotó:
What results did you achieve this year? How does it feel to represent Hungary at such an event? Have you already participated in the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals? If yes, with what success, and what are your expectations now?

Mezei Marcell – Rotax Mini MAX – CRG Gokartsport Egyesület

This year I won the Hungarian championship title in the Rotax Mini MAX category, having managed to win all the races. With this, I have now become a three-time Hungarian champion. I am also particularly proud of finishing third overall in the Rotax CEE (Central Eastern European Championship) out of nearly 50 drivers from 12 countries. I am also proud of my result at the end-of-year Rotax CEE MOJO Trophy, where—driving a Formula K kart that was new to me but excellent (this will be the mandatory kart brand at the Rotax Grand Finals)—I finished 4th overall out of 34 drivers.
It is always a privilege to represent Hungary at a world event. It is a proud and special feeling to compete as national champion among drivers from 60 countries—for myself, for the team, and for my country!
Last year, as champion, I took part in the Grand Finals for the first time in Sarno, Italy. I had some bad luck there: the qualifying on an unfamiliar track—and in rain—did not go well, which sealed my fate among the 72 entrants. In my best race I was knocked out from behind and could not continue. Despite this, it was a fantastic week—an uplifting experience!
This year’s Grand Finals will be in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in Sakhir. We did not leave preparation to chance: I trained three days on the track and managed to put together good lap times, which is a promising sign for the world finals. This year, I think qualifying for the final is realistic, and once you are among the top 34, anything can happen.

Willisits Vilmos (Vilo) – Rotax MAX Junior – UNI Győr WMS

In 2025, I became the RMC Hungary Champion in Rotax Max Junior, the Humda MNASZ National Karting Cup Champion, and achieved 13th place in the RMC Euro Trophy.
It is an honor and a great feeling to represent my country at the World Finals. Naturally, we will give everything to achieve a good result!
I have not yet competed at a Rotax Grand Finals, but our goal is at least to reach the final—then to achieve the best result possible from there.

Willisits Vilmos – Rotax MAX Junior

Kalapács Attila – Rotax MAX Senior – KMS Europe Kft.

I became Hungarian champion as a first-year Senior.
It feels great! I am starting the event with confidence and will do my best to achieve a good result.
Last year in Sarno was my first time at the RMCGF, but I didn’t manage to bring out the best in myself.
Since then, I have practiced a lot in international fields, so I expect this year to go much better!

Szabó Bendegúz – Rotax MAX DD2 – UNI Győr WMS

I managed to win the Hungarian championship in DD2!
Yes, in 2023 I competed in DD2 in Bahrain as well, where I finished 11th in the final! Since then, I feel I have learned and developed even more, especially in large international fields. So now I would like to achieve an even better result!
It is always a big thing to represent my nation at such a prestigious event. I hope I can further embellish my career with another strong result!

Gyutai Péter – Rotax MAX DD2 Masters – KMS Europe Kft.

What results are you proud of this year?
– This year I won the Moravian Cup, making me Slovak champion in my category.

How does it feel to qualify for an RMCGF?
– It is uplifting, and it fills me with great pride and joy. Even for the fifth time, it is a huge experience! This will be my fifth Grand Finals appearance.

Have you participated in the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals before? If yes, what results did you achieve, and what are your expectations now?
– Compared to myself, I have achieved some very good results; I finished 15th once. In my category, that is considered very strong, and I would like to surpass it this year.

Gyutai Péter – Rotax Max DD2 Masters

Benedek Anna – E20 Senior – KMS Europe Kft.

What do you expect from yourself at this event?
– The electric category is a new challenge, but the goal is the same: I want to bring out the maximum from myself. I will try to be as fast as possible, enjoy the racing, and give everything I have!

How do you plan to master the horsepower?
– First, I want to fully understand how the new machine behaves; then, session by session, I will build everything up. The goal is for everything to come together perfectly by the races and qualifying.

How does it feel to represent your country?
– It is a very special feeling. It gives me extra energy and motivation to perform at my absolute best.

Benedek Anna – E20 Senior

Madaras Ákos – E20 Senior – KMS Europe Kft.

I will do everything I can to achieve something memorable! If after the races both the team and I feel that this was all we had, I will accept it.

How does it feel to represent your country?
– It is the best feeling in the world! There may never be another moment in my life when I feel this proud. Ever since I saw the others at last year’s Grand Finals in Sarno, this has been my goal.
It is an amazing feeling to think that I will be representing my country. Maybe that is exactly why I want to achieve a better result than ever—because now I am racing not only for myself, but for my country as well.
I hope I will not disappoint!

Madaras Ákos – E20 Senior
